You may purchase body armor if you are actively engaged in one of the following eligible professions:

• Police Officers

• Peace Officers

• Members of the Armed Forces (active or reserve)

• Armed Security Guards

• Firefighters

• EMTs / Paramedics

• Federal Law Enforcement Officers

• Correction Officers

• Probation Officers

• Parole Officers

• Judges and Justices

• District Attorneys and their Investigators

• Public Defenders

• Private Investigators licensed by NYS

• Individuals authorized to carry firearms in the performance of their duties (with proper documentation)

What to Bring for Purchase:

Customers must bring all of the following in person to complete the purchase:

1. Government-issued Photo ID
   (e.g., driver’s license, passport)

2. Supplemental documentation
   If your photo ID does not show your current legal name or residential address, bring a government-issued document that does (e.g., utility bill, lease, court record).

3. Proof of Active Engagement in an Eligible Profession:

   • If employed: bring a valid work ID issued by your employer.

   • If no work ID or self-employed: complete and notarize one of the following before visiting:

     • INDIVIDUAL: Proof of Engagement in an Eligible Profession Purchase Form

     • ENTITY: Proof of Engagement in an Eligible Profession Purchase Form
